Vagal what?!?

Ever heard of vagal tone? This is the health of one of your cranial nerves that counteracts the fight and flight function in your body by stimulating a relaxation response. 

It’s super important especially in pregnancy! The vagal tone of your baby matures at the end of the 2nd and beginning of the 3rd trimester. Research shows that minimizing stress during this time will affect the baby for the rest of their lives!!

If maternal stress is high or out of control, babies will be more likely to be colicky, hard to console, constipated, and prone to early infections.

Guess what chiropractic does? Modulates the vagal tone! This allows mom to be less stressed overall or at least manage stressful situations more easily. This is just one of the reasons why Chiropractic care during pregnancy is so vital for the health of mom and the baby.

Did you know that the foundation of health for the lifetime of a baby depends on the stressors of the parents during preconception? In a study that evaluated babies (from conception to up to 2 years post) during a disaster ie war or natural disaster, offspring were more prone to anxiety, depression and neurodevelopment issues.

Chiropractic care is vital in helping to mitigate stress on the nervous system. The adjustment helps to keep the relationship between the sympathetic nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous system healthy. This allows for mom to process and adapt to her stressors leading to a healthier, happier pregnancy and baby!

YOGURT!!

What's in your cup? Yogurt is full of probiotics, proteins, and healthy fats... when you make it yourself. Unfortunately, store bought yogurts can be full of all sorts of other crap too. Bypass that mess and opt to make your own. You don't need any expensive starters or machines!

This recipe can be used with raw milk, or with store bought. 

If you don't have an InstantPot, you can make your yogurt in a glass mason jar in your crock pot. Use a towel for insulation and monitor the temperature. If your milk gets too hot you'll make cheese!
