Let’s bust a big myth about Chiropractic care. Once you start you have to keep going…forever. Dun Dun dunnnn. (that’s my attempt at menacing music in word form ;)
We have 3 types of clients who come into the office. The first type are the ones looking for pain relief. They want their issue taken care of as fast as possible, and then they stop care and go on with their lives. Nothing about this type of client has them coming forever. The second type of client is looking to get more to the root cause of why their issue is there and want to stabilize the changes that are made through their care. Once this happens, they go back to their lives. Again, there is no mention of forever care. The third type of client values the role their visits play in keeping them healthy. They continue their care on a frequency that complements their lifestyle for as long as it makes sense for them. That could be years or it could be a lifetime, but it’s always their choice. Each type of client is utilizing chiropractic care in a way that is congruent with their values and beliefs. Will the changes that are made to the nervous system last forever? No. Our bodies have what’s called neuroplasticity. This is a big fancy word that means they change, adapt and evolve in response to their stressors. So if client number 1 (the one looking for pain relief only) has their pain resolved, but doesn’t change anything in their life about why the pain started in the first place, it’s natural for the body to return back to that place because the stressors are the same. Symptoms are your body's way of telling you that something isn’t working and change is needed. We get to choose what the change will be and how long we stick with it. Nobody can do it for you or give it to you. Not even your chiropractor. Peace, Love & Wellness Dr. Liz

“At least people know what you do…” This was said to me by a physical therapist last week. It was amusing to me, that she thought everyone knew what Chiropractic was and how it’s integral in our health.
The consensus of people walking through our doors and when talking with people on the street, understand that Chiropractors work with the spine. Mostly, for putting it ‘back in when it goes out’. What this actually means is still a mystery to me! Chiropractic is concerned with the function of the nervous system. Is the brain and the body communicating efficiently? Is the function of the body working as closely to its natural state of health, healing and vitality as possible? Chiropractors access the nervous system through the spine. This is the protective covering of the nervous system. A healthy spine contributes to a healthy nervous system, which defines the health of the human. People who understand and value true health, choose vitalistic Chiropractors to be on their health team. Peace, Love & Wellness Dr. Liz Methylcellulose? Do you even know what that is? I didn’t. Until I looked it up. It’s wood.
WHY IS THERE WOOD PULP IN YOUR VITAMINS? Just like everything else you put into your body, the quality of your supplements matters. Are the ingredients in poor quality supplements causing joint inflammation? Or maybe they’re upsetting your stomach. In either case, the negatives definitely outweigh any good the supplements may be doing. In the office we only carry practitioner grade supplements. No weird ingredients. Just high quality products made with the best ingredients possible. Seeking Health, one of our favorite brands, is formulated by a physician. Dr Ben Lynch is a leader in the industry when it comes to Methylation and Nutrigenomics. The ingredients are all independently verified for quality and potency. Yes, they may be a little spendier than the ones on the shelf at the drug store. But when you take quality supplements, you don’t need to take as much, and sometimes you don’t have to take them for as long. The second thing to consider with your supplements is the form of the individual vitamins or minerals. Certain types are more bioavailable and readily absorbed than others. For example, your B Vitamins should all be methylated. It’s the one time meth is a good thing ;) If you want us to take a look at your current vitamins, or recommend a brand, reach out! We are always happy to help you on your wellness journey. |
